Peer Support Worker in Hammersmith & Fulham

Hi,

I previously worked closely with multi-disciplinary teams at Northwick Park Hospital Mental Health Centre to deliver and support client group that have complex mental health needs and those with substance use issues as part of our peer-led service.

A lot of my work is preventative as acute in-patient mental health services are supposed to be for short periods of time with CNWL staff as part of my role as a Mental Health Support Worker developed of many years since 2021.  

My own personal experience of recovery when it comes to substance use as well as my own mental health issues and homelessness, have given me the opportunity to share some of my own experiences to support our service users who may find themselves in similar situations that I myself have been through within boundaries.  

Our client group greatly appreciates this fact because I can empathise on a personal and clinical level with their current situation whatever it may be. I often give practical advice where possible and sometimes by simply listening to someone air their problems can often give vulnerable people the validation and feeling of actually being listened to for perhaps the first time and their concerns noted.

Currently I work as part of a team delivering a weekly one-day service every Tuesday for Turning Point’s ETE Team in Hammersmith as part of the Drugs and Alcohol Service .
