Service Manager for the Build on Belief Weekend Service in RBKC

Three years ago, I found myself in a cycle of substance use that consumed my life from dawn until the early hours of the morning—drinking was my way of coping when I didn't know any other way. The turning point came during an assessment at the Build on Belief weekend service, when I had a profound realisation: I was sitting in the wrong chair.

Meeting people who had walked the path I was on, and witnessing the transformative impact the service had on their lives, ignited something within me. I didn't just want recovery for myself—I wanted to be part of creating that change for others. I began volunteering, committed to residential treatment, and dedicated myself to my own healing journey. 

That commitment came full circle when I was offered a position as a support worker at the very place where my recovery began. Today, I'm honoured to serve as Service Manager of Build on Belief's weekend service—the same service where I once sat for my first assessment. Every day, I get to witness the same spark of hope and possibility in others that I once discovered in myself.

Recovery isn't just about what we leave behind—it's about who we become and how we lift others along the way.
