About us Who we are Staff Karen Ricketts Service Support Worker in Newham Hello, My name is Karen, and I have recently changed my role to Support Worker at Newham E16. My journey started with BoB in Oct 2019. I volunteered at the Shine Café at Turnpike Lane. I obtained a Food and Hygiene Cert and was able to cook and was shown how to become a Barista, hence running the café one full day a week. My background with my recovery has been with AA, and I am clean and sober for the past 12 years, JFT. Moving on, I have worked as a Support Worker in hostels for homeless people, was a Service Manager at NPH, Social Prescriber at Bentley House, managed the service in Harrow and now I am in Newham in East London. I believe that our Drop-In services can enhance recovery with substance use by connection, creativity, and becoming part of a team as either a volunteer or moving on to Team Leader. We all promote healthy ethics and activities like teamwork, arts, sports, games, and reading. We have a new project at Newham, the Garden Area. Clean-up, weeding, and a new name for the area are in progress. We offer a safe haven for one and all, and I look forward to my new journey with BoB.
