Service Support Worker 

Hello, I’m Jon and I’m part of the weekend team at BoB’s Greenwich service.

I first came to BoB curious about the weekend hub and looking for something to do when other services were closed. I really enjoyed it. It was great having somewhere safe to go, being with others and sharing some food. Not long after, I started volunteering. It helped me build confidence, meet new people, learn along the way, and regain a sense of purpose that had been missing for too long. Over time I found myself becoming someone people naturally came to for a chat.

Now that I’m part of the staff team, I’m still doing what I’ve always done, helping people feel at ease and creating a calm, friendly atmosphere where everyone can relax and be themselves. I like getting things going and making sure there’s always something for people to get involved in.

People often come to me to talk about day‑to‑day things or simply to hang out with the group. I keep things relaxed and friendly so it’s easy for people to join in with whatever is happening.

You’ll usually find me sorting quizzes, running film club, playing cards, doing a bit of creative art, cooking meals or joining in with recovery conversations.
