Dr Barbara Pendry is an Herbal Medicine practitioner with a PhD in Phytotherapy.

She was the founding editor in chief of the Elsevier journal of herbal medicine and a member of the UK governments expert Herbal Medicine Advisory Committee. Barbara has over 20 years’ experience as a mental health act associate manager formally for Barnet, Enfield and Haringey mental health NHS trust and latterly Elysium Healthcare Ltd. sitting on and chairing Tribunals to hear appeals by patients against their compulsory detention in hospital.  Her previous healthcare experience included working as an Occupational Therapy assistant for the Welcome NHS Trust and as the director of the Stratford Centre for Herbal Medicine clinic at the University of East London treating patients with natural remedies.

Barbara has published over 20 scientific papers related to healthcare. She has a strong interest in mental health particularly addiction and is fully committed to her role of Trustee with BoB for whom she is currently involved in research designed to support and promote its work.
